Practice as Theorisation

Inspired by the philosophy of Deleuze and Guattari interconnected with Ruth Levitas’ concept of Utopia as Method, Thomas’ research practice has primary method of Practice as Theorisation which they established during their masters at Rambert School:

“A processual research methodology whereby the theoretical and practical research practices interdependently follow a method that simultaneously creates stimuli to be actioned in the present.” (Page, 2022)

For their thesis on the MA for Professional Practitioners Programme at Rambert School, Thomas created an interactive rhizome to allow the viewer to immersive them into the research. This format allows for agency of the viewer whilst creating a heterarchical nature of the interconnected research topics.
